Edinburgh Tram

Edinburgh Trams is critical part of the development of the City of Edinburgh’s transport infrastructure. It will link Edinburgh Airport on the west of the city with Newhaven on the east, servicing the City Centre en route. The Trams will provide faster journey times and create less traffic congestion within the City. The Construction Consortium awarded the contract for the Edinburgh Trams Project consists of Bilfinger Berger, Siemens and CAF. As a result of meeting the target costs and guaranteeing on time delivery, Banagher Precast Concrete won the contract for the manufacture and supply of the bridge beams for the project. The first of the beams to be delivered to Edinburgh Park Bridge arrived on site in early April with the last of the beams for this structure due on site in the middle of May. There are two other bridges to be constructed, Carrick Knowe Bridge and South Gyle Access Bridge, both scheduled for completion later in 2009.
