AVIVA Stadium

Banagher Concrete Ltd has began planning for this project in august 2006 and were appointed sub contractor for the supply of all elements to the podium construction, a tunnel over the railway line. After demolition this was a crucial part of the enabling works for the main phase of construction. A time sensitive build taking place over one weekend (October Bank Holiday 2007). This rail corridor when complete left a protected tunnel above the dart line allowing construction works to progress without interruption. It consisted of 32No columns, 48No beams and 41No double T units. This totalled to 2365to of precast concrete.

On 19th October 2007 Banagher Concrete Ltd were appointed main supplier of all precast units to Main contractor SISK. This order would consist of Terrace units, columns, Raker beams, Vomitory walls, stairs and Tunnel walls. Mould work commenced immediately and a tight production schedule was drafted to meet the tight construction programme. One critical item, the premium tier raker beams, posed a significant challenge to the construction team. Designed as an insitu element, Banagher proposed a precast alternative. Broadly welcomed by the construction team, these units were manufactured off-site weighing in at close to 60to. Taking items such as this off the critical path ensured that programme deadlines were met, Quality and cast effectiveness being also paramount. In all 12000to of precast concrete were manufactured and delivered to site on time and within spec.
